Julie

Dante and I walked down to the town square after deciding that we were both in the mood for pizza. Dante greeted everyone we passed by name. It felt like every single one of our neighbors gave us a curious look, their gazes fixed on our intertwined fingers.

“Why are people so surprised to see us together like this?” I asked after we were seated and had placed our pizza order. “It’s not like they haven’t seen us hanging around together.”

“I have no idea.”

I remembered something Monique and Catherine had told me about him.

“Oh wait, it’s because you’re the playboy of Silver Fox Falls, aren’t you? They’ve probably never seen you holding hands with a woman before.”

“Silver Fox Falls?” he laughed. “Where did you get that?”

I tilted my head. “You don’t know?”

“Know what?” He looked adorably confused.

“The ladies who live here all call this place Silver Fox Falls because there are so many attractive and unattached single men living here.”

He stared at me like he thought I was joking. “No way.”

“Yes way. I thought you knew.”

“Wait, did you say they think I’m the playboy of Silver, uh, Falls?” he asked.

“Again, you didn’t know about this?”

“No, and I’m confused. You are literally the only person I’ve ever dated since I moved into this community. Why do they think I’m a playboy? I’ve never had any women around. I could be a monk for all they know.”

I shrugged. “I don’t know, I just heard from Monique and Catherine that you had a playboy reputation. Honestly, I didn’t ask a lot of questions because given the way you seemed determined to injure me when we first met, I wasn’t too interested in hearing more about you. At least until you asked me out at the pool.”

He reached across the table to hold my hand. “I’m glad you changed your mind.”

“Who said I changed my mind?” I teased.

“The person who’s planning to eat you out after dinner,” he growled.

“In that case, I definitely have changed my mind,” I teased, excitement flooding my core. I couldn’t believe I was already aroused again. It was like once I’d had sex again my body wanted to make up for lost time.

“What kind of pizza should we order?” he asked, perusing the menu.

“Whichever kind will be done fastest so we can get back to my place.”

“Vegetarian it is.”

After enjoying our pizza and a glass of wine, we boxed up our leftovers and headed back to my condo. Then Dante made good on his promise to eat me out for dessert.

Two months later...

“What are we doing for Thanksgiving next week?”

I looked up from my pasta. Over the last two months I’d discovered that Dante was a really good cook, and unlike me, he actually enjoyed cooking. He cooked for me several nights a week now.

We’d been doing, well, whatever we were doing for two months now. And by ‘whatever’ I meant spending time together and having lots and lots of sex.

I’d recently started a part-time accounting job at a local charity and between that and Dante’s schedule, we saw each other three or four times a week.
